"Knocking on Closed Doors"

 Empty pockets, head hung low,

Does respect just come and go?

Because today, no work I find,

Am I less human, less mankind?

No one wants to sit and wait,

To seal their unproductive fate.

Each day I search, I try again,

To rise and prove I am a man.

The emails sent, the calls I make,

Hoping today, for goodness sake,

A job will come, a chance to prove,

My worth, my skills, my will to move.

But doors slam shut, and hopes take flight,

Rejection stings with all its might.

The pain inside, a heavy load,

Is there a way off this hard road?

This constant strive, this burning plea,

To find a purpose, just to be,

A valued member, strong and true,

A brighter future, breaking through.
